JULIA CATHERINE JOHNSON was born Feb. l0, l86l, in Rock Island County, Illinois. She was united in marriage March 9, l88l, to MR. HOPE MILLS. They made their first home in Ringgold County, Iowa. They lived there until about fifteen years ago when they moved to the neighborhood of Weldon.

The husband passed away Jan. 20, l920. Since that time MRS. MILLS has made her home in Weldon where she passed away Feb. 23, l924, being 63 years and l3 days of age. In early married life MRS. MILLS professed her faith in Christ and joined the Methodist Church. She has held this membership through her life. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.

She leaves to mourn her death, two sisters: MRS. C.E. LANCE, of Glendale, Cal., and MRS. FRANK KALKAS, of Weldon; five brothers: J.H., of Clinton; W.C., of Cedar Rapids; A.W., of Los Angeles; J.A. and E.S., of Waterloo. Her father, G.E. JOHNSON, resides in Los Angeles. MRS. MILLS leaves two step-sons: A.W. MILLS, of Cumberland, Wis., and Charles H., of Weldon, there are two nieces, MRS. A.A. POOLE, of Humeston and MRS. C.L. SCADDEN, of Weldon. The last named have been a constant help during the long illness of the deceased. There are also four nephews, four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The deceased was a kind wife, mother and neighbor. Her passing will be mourned by relatives, neighbors and friends. Her life was spent in the ministration of labor and service for others. The tasks seemed never too hard or far away.

The funeral was held from the M.E. Church at Weldon, Monday, at 2 p.m. The service was conducted by Rev. Frank Moore. Burial was made at Green Bay.

Relatives who came from out of town were L.H. JOHNSON, of Clinton; W.C. JOHNSON, of Cedar Rapids; NEVA MILLS, of Des Moines, and MR. and MRS. A.A. POOLE, of Humeston.
