LAVICA ANN REX, daughter of OSCAR and EMMA REX, was born in Decatur County, January 27, l905, and passed away on July 2, l923, at Noyes Hospital, St. Joseph, Mo., age l8 years, 5 months and 5 days. On June 6, l923, she was united in marriage to CHRIS DEDES at Atchison, Kansas.

On June 25th, while examing a 38 caliber revolver in her home, which she did not know was loaded, accidently shot herself through the right lung. She was rushed to Noyes Hospital were all that the best physicians and surgeons, of St. Joseph and Kansas City could do was done, besides the care of the kind nurses; one her sister, MRS. SADIE SCOTT, of Leon, Iowa. She was of a loving disposition, always kind to othrs. During her illness she suffered great pain but was very patient and told those around her bedside, that she knew the Lord was her Shepherd and she would not want, and that she wished to go to the Great Beyond rather than suffer (*can't read) beautiful funeral home of Fleming & McNeal, where a large number of relatives and friends gathered to pay her their last respects.

She grew to womanhood in this vicinity and was loved by all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her loss, a loving husband, father and mother, three sisters: MRS. SADIE SCOTT, of Leon, Iowa; BERTIE DANIELS, Davis City; LUCINDA, at home; and five brothers: PRICE, FLOYD, EARL AND NELSON, of Leon, Iowa; and HENRY, of St. Joseph, Mo., besides her aged grandparents and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was laid to rest in the beautiful Mount Morra Cemetery at St. Joseph, Mo. The floral offerings were many and very beautiful. She is gone but not forgotten.

We wish to thank the kind neighbors and friends who were so good to help us in our bereavement and sickness at home, and our crops while we were absent from home, caring for our daughter, LAVICA, who met with a serious accident and death at St. Joe, Mo.
