WILLIAM J. DARR, son of W.J. and CATHERINE DARR, was born at Leon, Iowa, October 5, l864, and died at his home in Leon on May l7, l923. At the age of sixteen he went to the Black Hills country in South Dakota and returned to Leon twelve years ago. He was united in marriage to DORA THORSEN, August 4, l890. To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy. Those left to mourn his death are, the wife and the children: WILLIAM J., of Lead, South Dakota; MRS. LUCILE AKES, of Orroville, California; DEWEY and JAMES, who were with their father during his long illness and death. He is also survived by four sisters and a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held Saturday afternoon from the home in northwest Leon, the service being conducted by Rev. Henry Esch, of Cainsville, Mo., formerly Pastor of the Leon Christian Church. Interment followed in the Leon Cemetery. The deceased was a citizen highly respected and his passing is truly a great shock to all. He has been a great sufferer for many months.
