MARY J. LONG, daughter of DAVID and ELIZABETH LONG, was born in Dunkirk, Hardin County, Ohio, April 29th, l844, and departed this life at her home in Grand River May l3th, l923, being at the time of her death, 79 years and l4 days old.

She was united in marriage to WILLIAM OVERHOLTZER Sept. 4th, l864. To this union were born three children: MARY ELIZABETH, of Tingley, W.F. and H.C. of Grand River, all of whom are living.

In the year l87l, they moved to Decatur County, Iowa and settled on a farm near the present town of Grand River where they resided until l906, when they moved to Grand River. MRS. OVERHOLTZER united with the Christian Church in early life. There being no church of her choice here, she united with the Methodist Episcopal Church, remaining a member until her death. She leaves to mourn her departure, besides her aged husband and three children, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two sisters, MRS. J.Q. BRADSHAW, of Saline, Kansas; MRS. LIZZIE WILCH, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; besides a large number of other relatives and friends.

Aunt MARY as she was always called by all who knew her, will be missed. Her disposition was one of kindness and consideration for others always. With sorrow we bow to the will of our Lord, and yet also in faith, acknowledging that beyond our human wisdom His Will is good. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Grand River, Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.E. Habliston, Pastor of the Leon M.E. Church. Interment in the Grand River Cemetery.
