GEO. W. LAFOLLETTE, one of the well-known old veterans of this city, who had been in failling health for some time, passed away at the home of his daughter, MRS. ED PACE, in this city, Saturday, at the age of 8l years, 7 months and 9 days. He had been a resident of Decatur County for many years, and served as Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff for a number of years. His funeral was held Monday afternoon, conducted by the Masonic Lodge, interment being in the Leon Cemetery.

GEORGE W. LAFOLLETTE was born January l4, l843, in Pulaski County, Missouri; Died at his residence in Leon, Iowa, August 23, l924; aged 8l years, 7 months and 9 days. He has been a resident of Leon for more than 44 years and is widely known throughout the county and state. He was a Civil War Veteran and a member of the Masonic Fraternity. He leaves to mourn his departure, MRS. MILLIE LAFOLLETTE and three children, two daughters and a son: MRS. FRANK P. GENTRY, Kansas City, Mo.; MRS. EDWARD A. PACE, Leon, Iowa; HENRY H. LAFOLLETTE, Fort Madison, Iowa. A large circle of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Weaklend of the Christian Church. Interment in Leon Cemetery under the auspices of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion.
