EMMA CLARA GALLOWAY was born at Little York, Illinois, Mar. 29th, l863. When about twelve years of age, she moved to Norwood, Ill., where she united with the United Presbyterian Church of which she has been a consistent member ever since. When fifteen years of age, she moved with her parents to Ringgold County. In l882, she was united in marriage with M.O. NICHOL and has made her home in Iowa since that time.

About a year ago, her health began to fail. However, several years ago, she underwent an operation and has struggled patiently since that time to regain her strength but this proved hopelessly impossible. Gradually she drew near the end and met it with the utmost courage. She passed away at her home in Garden Grove, Oct. l5th, l922.

MRS. NICHOL was held in the highest esteem by all her friends and neighbors in this community, where she will be greatly missed. The qualities possessed by her were of the highest merit. She was sincere as a Christian, loving and devoted as a mother and grandmother, and a courageous supporter of everything for the moral uplift and betterment of mankind.

She leaves to mourn, her husband, M.O. NICHOL and sons, EARL FRANK and HOWARD, all of Garden Grove; three sisters, and two brothers, MRS. JULIA MORRISON, of Los Angeles, California; MISS JENNIE GALLOWAY, of Chariton, Iowa; MRS. GEO. ARCHIBALD, of Tingley, Iowa; J.L. GALLOWAY, of Fort Worth, texas, and I.B. GALLOWAY, of Maryville, Ohio.

Funeral services were conducted at the home Tuesday afternoon Oct. l7th, by Rev. V.J. Andrew, Pastor of the M.E. Church and the remains were taken to Mt. Ayr for burial.
