FORMER LEONITE KILLED IN ST. JOE
John Perks was struck by car last Saturday night - Driver Unknown

John Perks, formerly of Leon, was struck by an automobile some time Saturday evening on the Lake Contrary road south of St. Joseph, Mo. He was found about 11:30 o'clock lying by the roadside in a unconscious condition. He was hurried to a St. Joseph hospital where he lingered for about three hours before death came. There is no clue to the car or driver that struck him, but the authorities are at work in an effort to locate the guilty ones.

The body of Mr. Perks was brought to Leon and the funeral was held on Tuesday from the Apostolic church and burial followed in the Leon cemetery. He was a brother of Si Perks and was well known to our people. He was 52 years of age and unmarried.

Grandpa's Uncle John Allen Perks born in St. Joseph, MO died 03 Jul 1927 in auto accident, age 57. Grandpa said he was never married.
