Decatur County Journal
Thursday, September 9, l9l5

At the home of the bride's parents, Sunday,
August 29, l9l5, at 4
o'clock p.m. it was my great pleasure to
unite in marriage MR. ERNEST
LYSTER, of Cainsville, Mo., to MISS RUTH,
oldest daughter of Bro. CAL
CAIN and wife.

It has been our privilege to know three
generations of the bride's
family and to record here their worth and
worthiness. She will make
good every obligation of a true and loving
wife. She possesses a
charming personality, free from vanity or
pride. To her husband she
will be like a clinging vine, true and
steadfast. To her husband we can
say, you have made no mistake.

The groom is the only son of Bro. and Sister
J.U. LYSTER, and whose
character the Lord has put in their faces.
ERNEST and I have been
steadfast friends since we first met, jolly
as the day is long, frank
and open, with not a lazy hair on his head.

Why should they not be happy? We believe
they will be, and we are sure
they carry with them the very best wishes of
all who know them. God
bless the new home and continue in the old
ones from which they come, is
the prayer of my heart. Was anything better
ever written about marriage
state than this? If so, we have never read
it:

"A good wife is Heaven's last and best gift
to man; his angel of mercy;
minister of graces innumerable; his gem of
many virtues; his casket of
jewels; her voice is sweetest music, her
smiles his brightest day; her
kiss the guardian of innocence; her arms the
pale of his safety; the
balm of health, the balsam of his life; her
industry his surest wealth;
her economy his safest steward; her lips his
faithful councilors; her
bosom the softest pillow of his cares, and
her the ablest advocate of
Heaven's blessing on his head." Could
anything be added?

The dinner was fine, the social cheer
perfection. We were loath to
come away. God bless the occasion and its
memories, is my sincere wish.

We are greatly pleased to add to the above
the infair dinner was given
on Monday evening, August 30, at 7:30, at the
groom's parents, J.U.
LYSTER and wife, where there were assembled
as happy a group of people
as we have seen in many years. The supper
was fine, nothing lacking,
the social cheer of the very highest all were
in the mood celestial.
The hours sped all too quickly. We were all
loath to say good night, but
left our fervent good wishes for the future
happiness and prosperity of
ERNEST and RUTH. God bless them.

--J.H. BURROWS.
