Decatur County Journal
Thursday, June l0, l9l5

MISS POITEAUX B. HALSTEAD, daughter of MR.
and MRS. J.M. HALSTEAD, of
Van Wert, was married last November at
Lawrence, Kansas, to WARREN W.
BROWNE, of St. Louis, Mo., and had since kept
the marriage a secret.
The recent announcement of the marriage came
as a great surprise to the
bride's many friends at Van Wert, Leon and
other parts of the county.
MISS HALSTEAD, who was formerly Principal of
the Van Wert Schools, has
been attending the Missouri State University
at Columbia, Mo., and there
met MR. BROWNE, a senior in the school of
education. They were married
on November l9, l9l4, while attending the
Kansas-Missouri football game
at Lawrence.

The marriage has been kept a strict secret
until the announcement of the
wedding made at a banquet of the Pi Kappa
Fraternity held at Columbia a
few days ago. MR. BROWNE has accepted a
position as Superintendent of
the Public Schools at Charleston, Mo., for
the coming year where they
will make their home. The bride is one of
Decatur County's most
charming young ladies and is highly
accomplished. As soon as MR. BROWNE
completes some special summer work at the
university, MR. and MRS.
BROWNE will come to Van Wert for a visit
before going to Charleston.

The Journal joins the many friends in
extending congratulations.
