DONALD MCGINNIS, son of MR. and MRS. V.R.
MCGINNIS, and FRANCIS
CHERRINGTON, son of MR. and MRS. C.A.
CHERRINGTON, had an experience
with a live wire Monday evening that will
most likely make them regard
all wires with suspicion for a long time to
come.
The two lads were out wading in some water in
the rear of the
CHERRINGTON home and near W.A. ALEXANDER's
barn in north Leon about
seven o'clock after the rain of that evening.
An electric light wire
leading from MR. ALEXANDER's house to the
barn had in some way been
broken and had fallen down into the water
where the boys were wading.

FRANCIS came in contact with the wire first
and then DONALD. The
current caught them instantly. They were
unable to release themselves
and were thrown to the ground where they
writhed about in the mud.
Their cries brought MRS. MCGINNIS and MR.
ALEXANDER to their rescue.
MRS. MCGINNIS was knocked down upon coming in
contact with the wire, and
MR. ALEXANDER was knocked down twice.
Finally MR. ALEXANDER by using a
board, was able to twist the wire from the
boy's hands and release
them. Both of the lads had their hands
painfully burned but otherwise
they are little worse for their experience.

It is not known how the wire became broken.
The fact that it was down
was not known until the two lads had their
unpleasant experience.
Linemen for the Leon Electric Company were
summoned immediately after
the accident and the broken wire received
their attention.

I'd say these were two lucky boys! N
