On last Wednesday evening at 9 o'clock p.m.
the friends of CHARLES AKES,
JR., and MRS. CORA SHELTON were gathered
together to witness their
wedding, which was performed by the writer at
the beautiful country home
of MR. and MRS. I.C. NORMAN near Davis City.
MR. AKES is a son of HENRY
AKES, deceased, and is an industrious young
farmer, and has a host of
friends. MRS. SHELTON has been well known by
the groom and his parents
for many years, as she was a trained nurse
and has been called on to
assist this family many times in sickness and
is highly respected.

The wedding march was played by MISS NORMAN,
a niece of the bride. The
parlor was very beautifully decorated and
after the ceremony was
performed, we were then invited to the dining
room, where a sumptuous
supper fit for a king, had been prepared by
MRS. NORMAN, a sister of the
bride and on our return from the dining room
to the parlor, we
discovered a merry crowd, which had gathered
to furnish us some band
music, which consisted of tin pans and
buckets and almost everything
else that would remind one of an old
fashioned charivari.

This happy couple will be at home to their
friends at the old farm known
as the HENRY AKES farm, three and one-half
miles southwest of Leon,
where the writer has spent many a pleasant
hour visiting with these
hospitable friends and may the blessings of
our Heavenly Father ever be
with this couple and their many friends, and
may this home be so
conducted that any and all who may enter it
be reminded of that home
beyond the skies, is the earnest prayer of
their friend and brother.
