MY CEMETERY VISITS.

I thought you all might like to read my 'Cemetery Gypsy' articles I wrote in
2010 when visiting and taking pics. I'll send a couple a day and hope you
still enjoy them. Nancee

Subject: [IADECATU] MY APRIL 1ST CEMETERY DAY TRIP...

Well, I headed for Grand River this morning -- decided to go I 35 (which
they have shut down to 2 lanes at the entrance -- the same as last year --
only on the other side)... WILL BE AN ALL SUMMER 'DEBACLE'......

So, as I turned off on the G.R. exit -- Road J20, I decided to stop along
the way at the Munyon Cemetery.. Haven't been there for some years, but did
find it o.k. I had wanted to look for burials for my HARRISON M. WELDON and
his father, THURMAN ANDREW WELDON -- there is a rock for Thurman and a
rock/marker for Harrison... So, I got out my trusty 'witching wires' and did
some walking around.. Those wires are such awesome things (of course, they
are my husband's and he showed me how to use them -- He always said "You
have to believe in them...") It's amazing that even though the wind was
blowing up there on the Munyon Cem. hill, those wires follow the force
fields below the earth.. I do know that both my WELDONs are buried near
those markers -- my wires crossed quite strongly..

As I was walking around the cemetery, I found quite a few burials that have
no stones.. And, when I walked near a female's headstone the wires crossed
and went clear back to my shoulders... All the female burials did that..
Well, I didn't leave there until about 1:00...

I headed toward Oak Hill Cem. then and went up to the stone I found
yesterday, that I believe is B.F. Koger's... My wires crossed quite strongly
about a foot south of the stone, so I'm guessing there is more stone buried
in there and it possibly fell over.. I also walked by Catherine A. (Crees)
Koger's headstone and my wires crossed at about the middle of the headstone
and a bit south of it..

A couple of days ago, I put in a call to Corwin Cox, who is the Township
Clerk -- to ask if they had a record of B.F. Koger's burial place. Today, I
received a call back from his wife. Needless to say, she was very
unfriendly and did NOT want to deal with any of this.. I told her I was a
CREES and her ears perked up just a little and she seemed a little nicer..
Anyway, she said all they have is a map of burials and it is pretty much
water damaged.. I, again, asked her why they don't have the burial listings
and she said the previous Township Clerk had let them get damaged. She said
she was calling from work, they are busy calving, etc. ad nauseum.. So, I
asked her to specifically look for B.F. Koger on her map.. She said she
would call if she found anything... The apathy really 'chaps my hide
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I left my car parked at Oak Hill and took my camera and walked across the
road to where the double gates are with the No Trespassing sign on them... I
have asked about Funktown; the mill and cemetery. According to a township
map on the Decatur Co. Website, the cemetery is approximately 1 mile west of
Oak Hill.. So, I crawled thru the trees and around the gate and took a walk.
. There is large stone, as this has been a road at one time and it goes
pretty much straight down and crosses a stream and then pretty much straight
up to a flat spot on top.. I didn't see any headstones, but it looks very
much like it could have been a cemetery area at one time. Very pretty area
that could tell stories, I think... The top is approximately 1 mile from the
gates..
I have pictures I took if anyone is interested...

So, now I need to hit the shower and check for 'ticks' -- the little buggers
are out!! Nancee
