Mrs. S. METIER is improving slowly, and Mrs. WATERS will soon be enjoying her
usual health.

A mouse in the dress maker's shop caused much confusion yesterday morning
among the ladies.

Lovers of music ought to attend the concert at the M. E. church Friday
evening. It will be a good one.

Rev. WRIGHT is very low and the prospect is that he can live but a few days
at most. He is a great sufferer.

Roy LATTA is learning banking in the Garden Grove Bank. Roy is a bright
trusty boy and will make a good cashier.

The M. E. Aid Society will meet with Mrs. Ella GIBSON and Mrs. N. M. RIDGWAY
at the residence of the former, Friday afternoon, May 19th, 1893. All are
cordially invited.

Rev. HOSIER filled the pulpit at the M. E. church Sunday evening and preached
a plain practical sermon to a good sized audience. He has been on the Derby
circuit, this being his third year we believe, and is a hard worker.

There will be a business meeting of the Epworth League Saturday night, may
20th, at 7:30, at the M. E. church. All the members are requested to attend as
there is important business to some before the League. All those visiting to
join come also.

Will BRUCE captured a rattle snake Monday, brought it to town, and gave it to
J. C. WARNER for a pet. Jake expects to tame it and train it to act as a
kind of an alarm clock. It has eight rattles and is therefore quite a musical
pet. Ugh!

Sheriff LAFOLLETT was at Des Moines attending the Federal court and while
stopping at the Morgan a sly burglar got into his room and stole his pants and
his door and shackle keys. The sheriff was compelled to have a friend go out
and buy him a pair of pants so he could move about on the streets of the city.

Mrs. E. M. REMINGTON, of Des Moines, Grand Supt. of Juvenile Temples,
delivered a splendid lecture at the Presbyterian church Tuesday evening. There were
but a few people out to hear her however as it was not generally known. She
is a noted temperance worker and is doing valiant service in the cause.
