MRS. JENNIE BOWMAN attended the conference
at Lamoni.

JOHN KLING has bought a race horse.

MRS. G.B. KESHLER Sundayed with her
parents at Spring Valley.

CLYDE BOWMAN, who has been employed at the
round house in Burlington,
returned home Saturday.

CARTER SCOTT and family are in Lamoni this
week.

We have a new barber shop in town. FRANK
PICKERING, of Leon, is acting
as barber.

MRS. FRANK MCKEEHAN, of Texanoxie, Kansas,
had business in town last
week.

MABEL HORNER returned Tuesday to
Indianola, after a two weeks' visit
with her parents.

The late high water has broken out the
flat part of the dam.

The steam boat is being cleaned and
refitted and soon will be ready for
use.

A small child of MR. and MRS. WHEELER died
of diphtheria and was buried
here Friday.

FLORA LANEY was among the many who went to
Lamoni Sunday.

Invitations are out for a reception at the
Sylvester House to be given
by MR. and MRS. H.L. MCCLARAN.

MRS. J.M. SYLVESTER has been on the sick
list.

BLANCHE TOPLIFF, who is teaching school
near Lamoni, spent Sunday with
her parents.

ROE MILLER and family intend to start for
Oklahoma some time next week.

Our town appeared quite deserted Sunday,
as most everyone was attending
the conference at Lamoni. A very large
crowd was reported.

FRED BOWMAN, of Leon, and also CLIFF
CLARK, Sundayed near here.

DUDE ARGO, of Spring Valley, was in town
Saturday.

MAUDE LEE returned from Lamoni the first
of the week. She reports MRS.
CLARENCE SMITH, who has been very sick,
improving nicely.

Did you see GEO. CUSTER riding the bicycle
Sunday evening?

JOHN BLAKELY was in town the first of last
week.

CARL SYLVESTER fell, while fishing Monday,
into the river. As he fell a
large rock caved off also and came very
near striking his head. This
was a pretty close call and the boys who
are constantly fishing had
better be careful.

GEO. LEFOLLETT had business in town
Tuesday.

GUY MCNUTT, of Leon, is interesting the
young folks with a phonograph at
SCOTT & MCCLARAN's store.
