September 2, l909The nuptials of MISS LAURA BOYD and BOYD GALE, both of Grand River, were celebrated Wednesday morning, August 25, at the home of the bride's mother, MRS. JOHN BOYD. About thirty-five guests, including only relatives and intimate friends, were present. The house was decorated with golden glow and ferns. When the guests had assembled, MISS RHEA JOHNSON and JACK PARKS, of Beaconsfield, sang: "Oh, Promise Me", after which MISS JOHNSON played the bridal march from Lohengrin, finishing as the bride and groom paused before Rev. McLelland, who united them in holy matrimonial bonds. During the ceremony, MISS JOHNSON softly played Mendelssohn's Spring Song. The bride wore a semi-princess gown of white crepe and carried white roses. Following the congratulations of their friends, a three course breakfast was served.
This occasion united two of the oldest families of Grand River. The bride is a popular and charming young lady and an accomplished pianist. The groom is the only son of MR. and MRS. EDWARD GALE and has spent his entire life in this community. The young couple left immediately for Des Moines. Upon their return they will begin housekeeping in a cottage in the west part of town, which is already furnished. The guests from out of town were: H.R. Boyd and family, of Tingley; Miss Rhea Johnson and Jack Parks, of Beaconsfield, and Miss Katharine Terrill, of Jefferson.
