Carter, Steven V. [1915-1959]

A Representative from Iowa; born in Carterville, Utah, October 8, 1915; at age of 14 years moved with his parents to Lamoni, Decatur County Iowa, and attended the public schools; graduated from Graceland College, Lamoni, Iowa, in 1934, University of Iowa in 1937, and State University of Iowa College of Law in 1939, and was admitted to the bar in 1939 ,and commensed the practice of law in Leon, Iowa, and became County Attorney, Decatur County, 1940-1946; served in the South Pacific during WW II US Navy, beame City Attorney of Leon, Iowa 1946-1948; was elected as a Democrat to the Eighty-sixth US Congress and served from January 4, 1959 until his death at Bethesda, Md; November 4, 1959; with internment in Leon Cemetery of Leon, Iowa.
