BIOGRAPHY ~ John and Laura Taylor Family

William Wadsworth [Taylor] was born in West Moreland County, Pennsylvania, March 10, 1825. As a small child he moved to Stark Co., Ohio and at the age of 21 moved to LaGrange Co., Indiana. He was united in marriage to Julia Hassinger; and after residing in Ind. for a number of years, he moved his family to Decatur County, IA., in the early 1860's.

One of their sons, Wellington, married Mary Melissa Wycoff Feb. 5, 1882, at Grand River, Ia. Mary Wycoff was born Oct. 3, 1866, near Grand River to John and Sarah Evans Wycoff. Wellington and Mary Wadsworth were the parents of Laura Lucretia who was born Mar. 11, 1883, at Grand River. Laura was married to John Clarence Taylor, Sept. 4, 1906, at Leon, Ia. John was born Mar. 11, 1880, at Newbury, Kansas, to Alfred Arthyle and Margaret Walker Taylor. When John was 6 months of age the family moved near Grand River and a short time later moved into Grand River. John was a butcher and an iceman in Grand River all of his life. After many years of poor health, he died July 16, 1949. Laura lived her senior years in Grand River and Newton, Ia., where she died Nov. 19, 1961.

John and Laura Taylor were the parents of 5 children:

Oren, Wellington, Freda, Roy Dale, and Robert.

Oren L. (Joe) was born Jan. 2, 1907. He served in the Marine Corps for several years. Joe married Madge Bucknell July 29, 1939. They lived their married life in California and are now living in Ojai, California.

Wellington was born April 10, 1911, and married Cloris Cooper April 10, 1936. They haved lived most of their lives in Grand River .....

Freda was born Nov. 19, 1913, and was married Nov. 12, 1931, to Russell R. Adams. ....

Roy Dale was born May 21, 1916, and was married to Shirley Schooler on Oct. 10, 1941. He was a veteran of WW II......

Robert Paul was born July 28, 1924. Being in ill health all his life, Bobby passed away Aug. 20. 1936.
