BIOGRAPHY of STEVEN LEE "STEVE" ANDERS
Lamoni, Decatur County, Iowa

Steven Lee "Steve" Anders was born October 28, 1951 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Steve graduated from Graceland in 1973 with degrees in economics and business administration, then continued his education in economics at Kansas State University, obtaining his M.A. degree in 1978, and his Ph.D. in 1988.

He joined Graceland's faculty in 1978 to teach economics and became chairman of the Social Science Division in 1989. In those roles, Anders helped expand the business internship program and led efforts toward creating the accounting major. He also served on the Council on Student Welfare for 15 years, acting as chairman for most of that time.

Anders received the Graceland Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1985.

Outside of the classroom, Anders has been involved in Outreach International and on the investment advisory committee of the RLDS Church. He also stated a custom crane service [Anders Crane Service] in 1981.

Anders was appointed Graceland's associate dean of faculty in August of 1996, and the following spring was named as the first occupant of the Charles H. Sandage Chair of Economics.

He served as Graceland's acting president from August 7, 2006 to July 15, 2007.
