"THOMAS MORGAN, one of the active and enterprising farmers of Center Township, residing on section 2, is a native of the State of West Virginia, born in the year 1833. He was reared to agricultural pursuits in his native State, and has always followed that avocation. When a young man he came West, locating in Missouri, where he made a farm. He was married while living in that State to Miss Rebecca Wolf, and to this union have been born five children whose names are as follows -- Edward, Peter C., Lillie D., Dixon and Lucy. Mr. Morgan subsequently came to Iowa, his first residence in the State being on a farm in Richman Township, Wayne County, where he resided till making his home in Center Township, Union County. His success in his farming operations is due to his industrious habits and good management, and from a small beginning he has acquired a fine property, his home farm in Center Township containing 300 acres of valuable land, well-improved and under fine cultivation."
