Biographical and Historical Record of Ringgold and Decatur Counties, Iowa, (Lewis Publishing Company (1887)), p. 646:
"ISAAC McCLEARY, farmer and stock-raiser lives on section 15, High Point Township, where he owns 205 acres of land. He was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, January 13, 1839, son of Isaac and Sarah McCleary, who formerly lived in Ohio and Michigan, and came to Jefferson County, Iowa, in 1838. They settled in Decatur County, in 1857, where the father died in 1871, aged sixty-nine years, and the mother in 1876, aged seventy-one years. Mr. McCleary lived at home until their death. He was married in Decatur County, in 1862, to Mary E. Warrington, born in Maryland, January 21, 1840, daughter of Zeno and Martha Warrington, natives also of Maryland. Their children are -- Charles W., of Decatur County; Lena ., John M., George, Clara, Fred, Benjamin and Ralph. Cora and Nora, twins, and Mary are deceased. Mr. McCleary has held the office of township trustee and supervisor of reads. He is very liberal in his religious views, and in politics is a Democrat. Postoffice, High Point."
