WINFRED B. KELLEY
Attorney W. B. KELLEY, republican nominee for county attorney, was born in Glenwood, Iowa, on November 30, 1877. In childhood he removed, with his parents, to Kirtland, O., the family returning to Iowa in 1891, and taking up their abode in Lamoni, where they have since resided. Winfred received his early education in the schools of Kirtland, graduating from the Lamoni high school in 1895. He then entered Graceland College, from which institution he graduated in 1899, completing the four years' classical course. In the fall of 1899, he entered the Law Department of the State University, from which Department he graduated in the spring of 1901, being then admitted to the bar. Thus, after three years of successful practice, is he thoroughly qualified for the attorneyship. Mr. KELLEY comes from a family of successful lawyers. He has an uncle, George KELLEY, now practicing at Plainview, Neb., who has for years had an extensive practice. Winfred's father, E. L. KELLEY, and uncle, P. P. KELLEY, graduated from the Law Department of the Iowa State University in 1877, and immediately set up an office in Glenwood, where they were known as among the most successful lawyers the county of Mills ever had. P. O. continued the office, after E. L.'s removal to Kirtland, until his death in 1898; he was not only a most successful lawyer, but was one of the most popular men of his judicial district. W. B. KELLEY inherits these natural traits; and with his own personal ability and educational advantages they combine to make him an exceptionally strong young man. Mr. KELLEY served with the Fiftieth Iowa Infantry during the Spanish-American War, thus serving his county in her time of need. He is a member of the Knights of Pythias order, being Chancellor Commander of the Lamoni Lodge, No. 267. Attorney KELLEY has many staunch friends throughout the county, and is making a strong campaign. If he is elected in November 8, and everything now points to his election, he will make a most able manager of the county's judicial interests.
