Ronald Kenneth "Ron" Smith
Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa

Ronald Kenneth "Ron" Smith was born in Ames, Iowa, on September 15, 1952.

Ron earned the Gold Seal upon receiving his B.S. degree in mathematics from Graceland in 1974. He continued his math education at Iowa State University, obtaining his M.S. in 1978, and his Ph.D. in 1984.

Ron returned to Graceland in 1978 as a member of the Division of Science and Mathematics faculty. He developed a reputation as an enthusiastic, friendly instructor through such courses as calculus, geometry, algebra, and computer science. He also taught one of the early computer graphics classes offered at Graceland.

Ron has displayed his more artistic talents by acting in campus theatrical productions and playing the guitar for camping activities. Active in church activities, Ron received the Alumni Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1994.

Ron has published the following works:

"Solution to Problem 652" (May 1999). The College Mathematics Journal. May 2000.

"The Kingdom Way study guide. Paragon Publishing. Mt. Ayr, Iowa. 1997.

"Abstract of Joong, Fang". Review of Biography of Alfred North Whitehead by Victor Lowe. Process Studies 18/2 (1990).

Tic-Tac-Total?, with I. R. Hentzel. The Four Star Puzzler, 28 (1983).

Ron married Diane P. Calford on May 28, 1977, and they became the parents of two sons, Jonathon Ammon and Lehia Kenneth Smith.

Actively engaged in missionary work, Ron is a Seventy in the Mount Ayr [Iowa] Restoration Branch of the Church of Jesus Christ.
