BIOGRAPHY ~ HAROLD NEAL
Graceland University, Lamoni, Iowa

Originally from Canada, Harold Neal was a member of Graceland's music faculty from 1953 until 1968. He directed the orchestra, band and chapel choir.

From 1969 to 1981, Harold served as music director for the RLDS Church at its headquarters in Independence, Missouri. He founded the annual Harry Truman Concerts and served on the board of the Kansas City Philharmonic Orchestra. Harold was the director of the Independence Messiah Choir and founded the Jacomo Chorale in 1983. The Jacomo Chorale began with 27 singers performing during its first few years for churches, civic groups and other private performances.

Harold retired at the age of 65. He died on November 11, 2004 at the Groves Retirement Home in Independence, Missouri. Interment was made at Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.
