BIOGRAPHY ~ FRANK S. BONE FAMILY

Frank S[mith]. Bone, son of James A. (1848, Ohio - 1921) & Alice J. (1858-1927) Bone was born in Westerville, Iowa [April 5] 1879 and died in Grand River, Iowa [July 23] 1957. He was educated in the rural schools of Clarke County, Doyle Township, where he grew up on the home place which is on the county line south of the Jim Jones place. The large house which stands there now was built by his father James. He graduated from Grand River High School and Iowa State College. He farmed in earlier years after teaching and became an Insurance salesman and dealer in real estate.

He was united to Dora [Ellen Johnson] and they became the parents of Boyd Hull (1904-1961), Odessa b. 1905, Dorothy Hazel b. 1906, Garry Frank (1909-1934), Donna Alice (1916-1967), Doris Irene b. 1918.

NOTE: James A. Bone was the son of Joseph and Sarah A. (Dorsey) Bone. Alice Jane (Tharp) Bone was the daugher of Timothy Smith and Amanda Jane (Hull) Tharp. James and Alice also had a daughter, Mabel, who was born in 1877 and died in 1879. They were interred at Hopeville Cemetery.

Dora Bone was born in 1881 and died in 1974. Dorothy Hazel Bone died in 2002. Frank, Dora, Boyd, Dorothy and Garry were interred at Grand River Cemetery. Joseph and Sarah A. (Dorsey) Bone were also interred at Grand River Cemetery.

Odessa Elizabeth (Bone) Hall was born September 10, 1905, and died October 17, 1991. She was married to Wilber A. Hall, born July 22, 1909, and died November 10, 1998. They were interred at New Providence Cemetery, New Providence, Iowa.

Doris Irene Bone was born December 27, 1918, and died December 7, 1995.
