EDWARD CONWELL, farmer and stock-raiser, lives on section 4, Richland Township, where he owns 230 acres of land. He was born in County Donegal, Ireland, in 1830. His parents were PATRICK and MARGARET (BRADY) CONWELL, also natives of Ireland. They came to America and then returned to Ireland, where they passed the remainder of their lives. EDWARD came to America and settled upon his present homestead, in 1853. He married in Ireland, in 1869, to JULIA DAUGHTON, born in Ireland, in 1846, daughter of MAURICE and ELLEN (MILLERS) DAUGHTON . Their children are – STEPHEN, JAMES M., MARGARET, JULIA A., LYMAN N., EDMOND G., KATE and LUKE. Mr. CONWELL has held the office of county commissioner, township clerk and school treasurer for twelve years. He is at resent school director. When he came to America he had but fifty cents with which to commence life in a strange land and among a strange people. Being possessed of an energetic and an ambitious disposition, he has by industry, economy and good management obtained a good farm and a pleasant home. He makes a specialty of raising fine stock. His early educational advantages were quite limited; but by close application to study, whenever he has had the opportunity, he has acquired a reasonable amount of education . He is enterprising and always stands ready to advance the interests of his county. Himself and wife are consistent members of the Catholic church, to the support to which he generously contributes . Politically he is a Greenbacker. Postoffice, Westerville.
