The following items were taken from an article published in the State Leader after Mr. CHASE’s deaths: “He was for the past five years a member of the Board of Supervisors, and in that capacity was highly appreciated by all parties and people, and had he lived would have been a very formidable candidate for state Senator in the campaign. * * * He came to this county in 1849, and during that long residence had lived a life above reproach, and was honored and highly regarded by all. He was a man of extended learning and information, and possessed a large amount of it.” He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, but not a church member. His estimable wife lives on the home farm and is respected by all. Mr. CHASE left 120 acres of timber land.
