BOYDSON, editor and proprietor of the Democrat-Reporter, the Democratic organ of Decatur County, is a son of DAVID JOHN and REBECCA (JERRARD) BOYDSON, native of Pennsylvania and Virginia respectively. He was born at Mount Morris, Green County, Pennsylvania, April 13, 1840. His father removed with his family to the Hawkeye State in 1854, stopping one year at Oskaloosa. The following year the family removed to Knoxville. When seventeen years old, Lon. Commenced learning the printer’s trade in the office of the Iowa Voter, at Knoxville. He served the usual three has been engaged in journalism ever since. He worked at Fairmount, Nebraska, Moulton, and then in Montezuma again. In 1877 he established the Powesheik County Democrat, and removed in charged of that paper for seven years, and in August, 1884, came to Leon and purchased the Democrat-Reporter, which he has since conducted. He is a journalist of varied and long experiences, and well fitted to manage a paper of the standing of the Democrat-Reporter. Mr. BOYDSTON was married October 31st, 1872, to MARY E. MCCOICK, of Montezuma, Iowa. The children born to this union are named LEO, EVA, MAY, WALTER and ESTELLA. Mr. BOYDSTON is a member of all three branches of the Odd Fellows order, of the United Workman, and of the Legion of Honor. He is in politics a Democrat, but is a strong Prohibitionist. He and his wife are members of the Methodist Episcopal church.
