(Lewis Publishing Company (1887)), p. 595:

EARL S. EALS, one of the prosperous young farmers of Franklin Township, is a native of Decatur County, born in Garden Grove Township, August 16, 1860, a son of T. J. and SARAH EALS, prominent citizens of Weldon. He was reared on his father’s farm, receiving good educational advantages , and in his youth acquired habits of industry that have been of lasting benefit . He is now superintending his father’s farm in Franklin Township, and is a successful and enterprising farmer. He was married in 1884, to Miss HANNAH VAN LIEW, daughter of J. D. and LIZZIE (KUHL) VAN LIEW, of New Jersey. They have one son, FRED. In politics Mr. EALS affiliates with the Republican party.
