Jack Scott
Graceland University, Lamoni, IowaJack SCOTT enrolled at Graceland in 1947, starred as a running back and receiver in football, and ran the 100, 220 and relays in track. He later played professional baseball for three years with the St. Louis Organization.
SCOTT then moved into coaching. His Willow Lake, South Dakota, High School teams had a two-year 18-1-1 record in football and a 52-30 record in basketball.
From 1961-1969 he was head football coach at Westmar College where he compiled a 60-17-3 record. His 1968 team was undefeated. SCOTT won five consecutive conference championships and remains the winningest football coach in Westmar history.
The Iowa United Methodist Foundation maintains a scholarship in Jack's name.
Jack went to Portales, New Mexico where he was the head football coach from 1970 until 1977 at Eastern New Mexico University. His teams were ranked in the NAIA Top 20 for four consecutive years. SCOTT'S overall coaching record at Eastern NMU was 40 wins, 41 lossesand 2 ties.
SCOTT'S overall college coaching record is 94-52-5; his career record is 141-56-6.
In 2008, SCOTT was one of several honorees who were awarded "The Distinguised Faculty Emeriti" award by the Friends of Eastern Foundation.
Jack SCOTT was inducted into Graceland University's Hall of Fame in 1991.
