John David "J.D." Turner
Graceland University, Lamoni, IowaJohn David TURNER graduated from Graceland College with the Class of 1964. Since then he has been active in the Professional Golf Association (PGA). A five-time Iowa Open Champion, TURNER holds 13 major Iowa championships. He was also named Iowa Section PGA Champion in 1986, Iowa Player of the Year, and Golf Professional of the Year by PGA in 1989.
TURNER served as president of the Nebraska Section, was a delegate to the annual meetings of the PGA and served on various professional gold committees. He has conducted professional golf workshops for various golf clubs and for non-profit organizations.
TURNER'S golfing career totaled 10 Iowa major titles and quite a few other victories. In 1983, he created the television program J.D. Turner's Golf University.
John David TURNER was inducted into Graceland University's Hall of Fame in 1989. He was named the Iowa Section PGA Teacher of the Year in 1989. Golf Magazine named TURNER as one of the top 100 golf instructors from 1891 to 2008. In 1995, he was inducted into the Iowa Golf Hall of Fame.
