While Rebecca and Elizabeth have historically been listed in some family histories as the daughters of William, that information is incorrect. Please see:
Lynne C. Morris Keasling, "Family Connections from Civil Court Records, Harrison County, Indiana, Book 1, 1812-1850" ([Corydon, Indiana]: Daughters of the American Revolution. Hoosier Elm Chapter, 2015).

That states that in October 1837 the "heirs of Garret Applegate who stated that he died 28 August 1837 and left no widow and his only heirs were his children Ann Heth, Hannah Applegate, Derrick Applegate, Elizabeth Pangborn, Rebecca Pangborn, Naoma Crookham, James Applegate, Cassandra Amy and Mary Current."

This proves that Rebecca Applegate who married Lines Pangburn and her sister Elizabeth Applegate who married William Pangburn (sisters married brothers) were children of Garret Applegate and wife Mary Johnson, not children of William Applegate.
