Mrs O D Brooke; Nellie Edith Downing, daughter of William T and Lydia Downing was born July 8, 1902 in Davis County, Iowa, and died at the St Joseph Hospital in Centerville, Iowa, May 9, 1955 after a prolonged illness. She was united in marriage to Oliver Dewey Brooke on February 14, 1923 at Bloomfield, Iowa, and to this union were born 4 children. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, one sister, 2 brothers and one infant son. She is survived by her husband Oliver, 3 children, Mrs Wm Redmon of Belle Plaine, Mrs Rbt Walborn of West Grove and Don still at home, 3 brothers, Bert Downing of Des Moines, Paul Downing of Bunch, and 1 sister, Mrs Harley Kirby ofBlakesburg, 2 grandchildren and a host of friends and neighbors. She was a loving wife and mother and always thought of others first. Last rites were conducted from the Curl Funeral parlors in Bloomfield in charge of Rev Clark W Howard, Methodist Pastor at West Grove. Burial was made near Bunch Wednesday May 11.
