Bennie Leon Barker, formerly of Floris, Iowa, passed away in his sleep on January 28, 2016, at the age of 85. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1957 and retired after 20 years, including two tours in Viet Nam. His home was in Citrus Heights, California, but he had many happy memories of growing up in Iowa. He had five children: Neila Quesada, Connie Hubbart, Vincent Barker, Cindy Barker, and Bengie Barker, eight grand children, and two great grand children. His parents, Harley Barker and Winona (Strickland)Barker, were owners of the community grocery store and Midway for many years before moving to Union Grove, Wisconsin to be near their daughter, Mary Moyle. A memorial service for Bennie will be held on March 11, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Lincoln, California.
