MRS. JULIA A. EVANS

Julia A. Claflin, daughter of Ira and Hannah Claflin, was born in Lebanon, Iowa, May 8, 1848. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R.A. Yeast, 1017 Sixth Street, Ft. Madison, Wednesday morning, February 27, 1924, at
the age of 76 years, 9 months and 19 days.

On March 25, 1869, she was united in marriage to Mr. L.C. Evans at Lebanon, Iowa, to which union three children were born, May Parrish, who preceded the mother in death 26 years ago, Mrs. R.A. Yeast, Ft. Madison, Iowa, and Mr. Ira Evans, Denver, Colo.

Until the time of her husband's death which occurred January 4, 1915, Mrs. Evans lived in Troy, Bloomfield and Milton, Iowa. Since the death of her husband she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Yeast in Ftt. Madison.

Mrs. Evans united with the Presbyterian church at Troy, Iowa, early in life and remained a faithful member of the church until her death.

Besides the two children named, she is survived by two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Mary Haynes, of Oskaloosa, Iowa;;; Mrs. Emaline Cole, San Francisco, Cal., Mr. Charles L. Claflin of Bakersfield, Colo., also four grandchildren, two great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the Clements Chapel, Thursday, February 28 at 3 o'clock, the Rev. W.W. Whitman and Rev. E.A. Bentzinger officiating. Mrs. A.B. Howard sang beautifully "Face to Face" and "There Will Be No Night There."

She was laid to rest by the side of her husband in Troy, Iowa, Friday, Feb. 29, 1924.
