Mrs. Phoebe Stevig, 89, Dies at Home Near Pulaski Today

One of Davis County's pioneer residents, Mrs. Phoebe Stevig, 89, died at her home four miles south of Pulaski at 6 o'clock Thursday morning. Advanced in years, she had been critically ill for the past eight months.

Mrs. Stevig was the widow of the late John Stevig, well known Davis County farmer, who died in 1928. She was a daughter of Daniel and Mary Kinsinger, early Davis County residents, and was born near Pulaski, July 21, 1855. A resident of this county her entire life, Mrs. Stevig vividly recalled early Davis county history. She remembered well the day her father left the home for service in the Civil War and rebel raids staged in Davis county during that era.

A family of eight children survive Mrs. Stevig. They are: Edward of Colfax, Wash., William, of Bay City, Migh., Joseph, of Gridley Ill., Mrs. Mary Duffield, of Troy, Mrs. Robert Sutton and Sam Stevig of Pulaski, Mrs. Louisa Shannon and Chris Stevig, at home.

Final arrangements for funeral services to be conducted for Mrs. Stevig are pending arrival of the sons from a distance. It is expected the rites will be held at the home either Saturday or Sunday. Interment will be made at the Pulaski North Cemetery, where Mr. Stevig is buried.

The body is being held at the Wagler Funeral Home, in Bloomfield, until time for the funeral.
