Carl Quigley 44 of 242 Grandview Ave. died Tuesday at 12:40 p.m. at St. Joseph hospital.

He was born June 26, 1932 to WALTER and Theressia Davis Quigley of Ottumwa.

Quigley joined the Ottumwa Police Dept. Jan 16, 1967 as a patrolman, was promoted to SGT Aug 1, 1963 and to Capt Apr 1, 1970. While in the Dept; he served as a patrol officer, shift commander, detective and training officer.

Quigley was instrumental in forming the Ottumwa Police Academy in 1967 and was the training officer from 1967~1972 when the Academy was transferred to Indian Hills Community College. He became the director of Police Science at the college while on temporary leave from the police department on ordinary disability March 31, 1976.

He served in the Korean Conflict and was a member of the PHC 224th Engineer of the National Guard of Fairfield.

Surviving are two daughters; Cindy Willingham of Osage Beach MO and Karla Quigley of Ottumwa; one granddaughter and 2 sisters; Irene Colter and Beatrice Collier; both of Ottumwa.

The service will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at rhe Reece Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Petts officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem cemetery near Eldon. The Fairfield National Guard will be in charge of services.

*His parents are buried at Bethlehem cemetery also. Davis County Iowa.
