Ottumwa tri-weekly courier, March 16, 1912 Clara Isabel Brodene was born Feb 17, 1895 and departed this life March 6,
1912 being 17 years and 13 days old She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelse Brodene residing about three miles northeast of Troy. Her illness was of long duration and much suffering but she made no complaint, no murmur escaped her lips but putting her trust in Jesus who is able to strengthen and comfort in trouble and distress, and saying "Thy will not mine be done." She was kindhearted and lovable" with a sweet amiable disposition and beautiful character. It is only about seven months since her older sister Selma, preceded her to the better land. She leaves to mourn her loss father, mother, two sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held at the Bethel church conducted by Rev. Jas. A. Wilson of Troy and interment was made at the Leando cemetery. This second death especially calls forth the sympathy of friends and neighbors for the bereaved family.
