Ed Evans Dies; Prominent Mason
Ottumwa Merchant Had Resided Here 50 Fifty Years; Active In Christian Church.
Active member of several Masonic bodies and a resident of Ottumwa for more than 50 years Edward Evans, 53, of 101 S. Moore St., died at his home at 5:45 AM today. He was an active participant in all Masonic rites and was a past master of Empire Lodge, No. 269, A. F. & A. M. He was also a member of Clinton chapter, No. 9, R. A. M, Ottumwa Council, No. 31, R. A. M., Malta Commandery, No. 9. K. T., and Ottumwa chapter No. 112, O. E. S. He was also a member of the Davis Street Christian church and for a number of years he was a member of his church board. He was a machinist by trade being employed by the Dain manufacturing company at the time of his death. Surviving are his wife, Ola; one brother, John of Ottumwa and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Matheny of Floris and Mrs. Lovell of Ottumwa. Funeral services will be held at the Lester Jay funeral home Monday at 2 PM, conducted by the Rev. Roy C. Leeds. Burial be made in the Shaul cemetery. Masonic burial services will be held at the grave.
The Knights Templar escort will meet at 1 PM at the Masonic Temple Monday.
