VIRGINIA A. BATTIN

Virginia A. Armstrong Battin, daughter of John P. Armstrong and Eviolette Gore, was born June 4, 1880 near Bloomfield, Iowa and died at 9:30 a.m. January 1 at the Davis County Hospital at Bloomfield at the age of 89 years.

She grew up in Davis County attending public school and graduating from Southern Ia. Normal. She taught rural school in Davis County for several years.

On November 19, 1899, she was united in marriage to J. Everette Battin. One child, a daughter, Pauline, was born to this union. They resided on a farm near Bloomfield until moving to Cantril in 1938, where she lived the rest of her life.

She was a member of the Cantril United Methodist Chnurch and attended until ill health prevented. She was also a member of Rebekah Lodge No. 1 of Bloomfield and the Cantril Chapter OES.

Her husband and one brother preceded her in death.

She is survived by her daughter, Pauline and son-in-law, Frank Woodin of Cantril; one nephew; two nieces; other relatives and many friends.

Services were held at the Cantril United Methodist Church on January 3 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Herbert E. Phillips officiating. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery at Bloomfield.
