John Benge Rites At Floris Tuesday

Funeral services were conducted at the First Baptist church in Floris Tuesday afternoon for John Benge, 78, who died at Davenport Sunday following an extended illness.

The services were conducted by Rev. Harold Garoutte and burial was in the Floris cemetery.

The son of Alfred and Amanda Pottorff Benge he was born July 17, 1878, near Floris, where he resided until about 30 years ago. He was married to Anna Roush, who died in November of 1951. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Grace Douglas of Davenport, and four sons, Vernon of Wichita. Virgil of Oakdale, Thomas of Davenport and Howard of Glenwood, Iowa a sister, Mrs. Chas. Baird of Floris, and several grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four children, three brothers and four sisters.
