Christian William Ramseyer
Of Bloomfield, Davis county, representative from the Sixth district, composed of the counties of Davis, Jasper, Keokuk, Mahaska, Monroe, Poweshiek and Wapello, was born on a farm near Collinsville, Butler county, Ohio, March 13, 1875. When two years of age his parents moved to McLean county, Illinois, where his father died in 1881. Since 1887 Davis county has been his home. He graduated from the Southern Iowa Normal at Bloomfield in 1897 and from the Iowa State Teachers' College of Cedar Falls in 1902. He taught school six years, the last two years of which he was superintendent of the Bloomfield public schools. He graduated from the college of law of the State University of Iowa in 1906 and since that time has been practicing law at Bloomfield. Was married to Miss Ruby Phillips June 2, 1915, and they have two children, Jane and Barbara. Was elected county attorney of Davis county in November, 1910, and re-elected in November, 1912. Elected to the sixty-fourth, sixty-fifth and sixty-sixth congresses, and re-elected to the sixty-seventh congress. Republican in politics.
