DOCTOR MISSING
~
A LEADING PHYSICIAN OF
BLOOMFIELD HAS MYSTER-
IOUSLY DISAPPEARED
~
Bloomfield, May 4. – The continued absence from this city of Dr. Alvia Shelton, a prominent physician and highly respected citizen, is exciting great comment of all kinds of conjectures. The doctor, who has an extensive practice in this part of Iowa, without any warning or explanation to anyone, in company with his little daughter, Traverse, left the city. Six weeks or more has passed and the mystery of this strange disappearance still remains unsolved. His relatives and most intimidate friends are powerless to make any satisfactory explanations to the inquiring public, left free to draw its own conclusions. It was believed for a while that he was confined in a hospital in St. Louis with smallpox but this theory was finally proven to be wrong. Since then all kinds of rumors are afloat. Some say he’s in Florida, others say he is in California, while the general public think he never intended to return. His mother and another small child have gone to make their home with Mr. Shelton’s grandfather, John H. Taylor, who lives in the eastern part of this city.
