Inez Wardene Isenhart passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, November 4, 2011. She will be cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Road in Des Moines. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Wardene was born November 7, 1936 to Guy and Etta Thompson in Stuart, Iowa. She grew up in Stuart and married William Earl Isenhart on January 23, 1959. Earl and Wardene moved to Des Moines where she worked the night shift at Farm Bureau for many years so she could be home with her girls, Deb and Cindy, during the day.
Wardene enjoyed gardening, flowers, knitting and crocheting. She loved cooking Sunday dinner for her family and especially hosting family for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Etta; her sister, Ramona Aldrich; and her brother Larry Thompson.
She is survived by her husband, William Earl Isenhart; daughters, Deb Isenhart and Cindy (Chris) Sonner; grandchildren, Todd and Abby Sonner; sisters, Marlene Cummings and Terri Beaman; and many nieces and nephews.
