Trygar, Marleta “Pete” Liston Bever– 1923-2012

Marleta "Pete" Bever Trygar passed away at her Rogers, Arkansas home on Friday, August 31, 2012 within the loving support of family and friends. Pete was born in Corning, Iowa on December 12, 1923. As a child, she lived on farms in Corning, Anita, and Adel, Iowa. She was the youngest of eight children. Her parents were Minnie Spieker Liston and Charles Ross Liston. She graduated from Adel High School and completed secretarial school.
Pete married Raymond "Tom" Bever on May 2, 1942. They farmed together near Adel, Iowa for almost 30 years. Pete was active in 4-H as a local club leader and at the county level as an Extension Board member and a judge at local and county fairs. She was also involved in various school booster activities. Tom preceded Pete in death in 1970. After Tom's death, Pete moved into the town of Adel and worked in the Dallas County Auto Licensing Department for 8 years, rising to the position of Deputy Treasurer. She moved to Rogers, Arkansas in January of 1979.
In Rogers, Pete worked in the admissions office at St. Mary's Hospital and on the administrative team of the NW Arkansas Orthopedic Clinic. She retired in 1988 and enjoyed her home on Beaver Lake.
Pete was married to Edmund B. Trygar on June 29, 2002. Together Ed and Pete enjoyed bowling, playing cards, gardening, crafts, and an active life with a combined family of 10 children, 18 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
Pete was a talented seamstress. As a young mother she sewed continually for her family. In her later years she made beautiful quilts which she gave to all members of the Bever and Trygar families. She also enjoyed various forms of needlework. Pete was always tackling new projects from upholstery to furniture refinishing.
With Raymond Bever, Pete had five children: Anita Johnson of Milford, New Hampshire; Bruce (Joan) Bever of Des Moines, Iowa; Patricia (Bill) Swigert of Panora, Iowa; James (Linda) Bever of Adel, Iowa; and Merle (Janet) Bever of Springfield, Missouri. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. All of Pete's brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
A memorial service will be held at the Adel United Methodist Church in Adel, Iowa on September 8, 2012 at 11 a.m. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Oakdale Cemetery in Adel within the privacy of her immediate family.
