Sharon K. Sindergard, age 70, of Urbandale, formerly of Laurens, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.

Funeral Services, 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 19, 2011, at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Laurens, Iowa with Pastor Jerry Wittmus officiating. Burial will be in Laurens Cemetery, Laurens, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Sunday, September 18 at the Smith-Loterbour-Powers Funeral Home in Laurens, Iowa.

Sharon Kay Buettner was born December 18, 1940, at Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was the daughter of Herman and Normadine (Reinders) Buettner. She graduated from Plover High School in 1958. On May 18, 1958, Sharon married Kenneth Sindergard at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Mallard. Five children were born to this union. The couple resided in Palmer for nine years before moving to Laurens. In Laurens Sharon worked at the Coast to Coast Store. Following Kenneth's death in 1996, Sharon moved to Urbandale.

Sharon was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Des Moines and a past member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Laurens. She enjoyed gardening, reading and following the stock market. She especially loved time spent with her children, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include her children, Kenny (Donna) Sindergard of Laurens; Kevin Sindergard of Des Moines; Angela (Bill) Hansen of Des Moines; Tammy (Matt) Hagerty of Des Moines and Todd (Angela) Sindergard of Pickerington, OH; five grandchildren, Ashley (Jed) Akridge; Shane Sindergard; Morgan Sindergard; Ryan Nolan and Grant Sindergard; brother, Mick Wallner of Palmer; sister, Wanda (Darrell) Shimon; half-brothers, Kevin (Jeanine) Buettner and Steve (Diane) Buettner and half-sister, Valerie (Dave) Catt. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth and Herb and Violet Wallner.

Sharon's family would like to thank all of the staff at Mercy Hospice, Johnston for their compassionate care.
