Friday, March 19, 1965Rites for Mrs. Alice McKee Cumming, 76, artist, teacher and lecturer, will be at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Green Acres Mortuary. Cremation will follow.
Mrs. Cumming died Tuesday in her home at 6702 E. Indian School. She was owner and director of the Cumming School of Art in Des Moines, Iowa, before retiring and moving to Paradise Valley in 1955. She was born in Stuart, Iowa.
Her works include a portrait of Gov. B. C. Allen of Iowa which now hangs in the Iowa statehouse.
Mrs. Cumming recently conducted private art classes in Scottsdale, Casa Grande and Coolidge.
She was a member of the Iowa Art Guild, Art Society of Chicago, the Business and Professional Woman’s Club in Des Moines and the Toastmistress Club, and had lectured in art.
Surviving are three brothers, James, David and Frank McKee, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Kalbach, all out of state.
