Ralph Cook, 76, died in a Des Moines hospital June 18, following a brief illness. For many years he had lived in the Stuart and Dexter communities, and moved to Colfax less than a year ago.

Ralph Randolph Cook was born Apr. 29, 1872 near Adel in Dallas county, Iowa. He passed away June 18, 1948 at the age of 76 years, 1 month and 20 days. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Cook.

Mar. 31, 1897 he was married to Eva Phoebe Monroe at Waukee. To this union was born three daughters, Esther Elizabeth, Vivian Rew and Gretchen (deceased in infancy).

He was a member of the First Congregational church and the Masonic lodge of Stuart.

A resident of Stuart for the past 35 years, he was well known in the surrounding territory as one of the pioneer horse buyers of the state.

He is survived by his widow, Eva Cook; two daughters, Esther Miller of Colfax, and Vivian Miller of Hastings, Neb.; two grandsons, Jack C. Miller of Kansas City, Mo., and Ebert Miller, Jr., of Hastings, Neb., and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted from the Bufkin Funeral Home June 20. Dr. Dutton of Colfax was the minister in charge. Interment was in the Dexter cemetery.

Casketbearers were Allison Hillgren, W. H. Lee, Ralph Stringham, Ray Potts, George Trowbridge and Dr. G. C. Gamerdinger. Flower ladies were Mrs. Allison Hillgren, Eva Zenor, Mrs. Ray Potts, Mrs. George Trowbridge, Mrs. G. C. Gamerdinger and Mrs. Ward M. Koons.

The Masonic service was given at the Funeral Home and at the graveside. Larkin Barry of Des Moines, presented two solos, accompanied by Ida Marion Russell.
