Viola Buckle was born in Shelby county, Ohio, August 5, 1872 and passed away at the home of her daughter in Des Moines, Iowa, Oct. 22, 1936, at the age of 64 years, 2 months and 17 days.

January 23, 1895 she was united in marriage with John A. Hill. To this union were born five children as follows: Orville and Oscar of Dexter Mrs. Dora Work of Ft. Des Moines, Russell of Valley Junction and Mrs. Bernice Dir of Des Moines. There are also 7 grandchildren. One only sister, Jenny Perry, of Kalamazoo, Mich., with a host of friends and acquaintances who mourn the passing of this devoted mother and friend of all who knew her. After leaving Dexter she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Dir, of Des Moines.

For seven years the family lived in Grundy County, Illinois, and then in 1902 they moved to a farm south of Dexter. In 1927 they moved to town. On Nov. 7, 1928 she was bereft of her husband with whom she journeyed up life’s highway for 33 years.

In 1930 Mrs. Hill went to live in Des Moines and for four years she has been in failing health. Everything that loving hands and medical skill could do was done for her. She has finished her course and her works follow her. She was held in the very highest esteem by all who knew her.

Funeral from M.E. church in Dexter conducted by Rev. J. H. Freedline. Interment in Dexter cemetery.
