Dennis, known as Denny, was born September 13, 1946 in Ft. Madison, Iowa to James and Nora Carr Westfall. He attended school in Ft. Madison and was raised on a farm near Montrose, Iowa close to the Mississippi River.

He was with the Army Corp of Engineers Battalion in Thailand building roads during the late sixties when he drove a dump truck. Anything with wheels he loved. After his return from the Army he worked at Fruehauf Co, outside of Ft. Madison, building semi trailers until his marriage.

Denny and Linda were married August 22, 1970 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Des Moines. Denny worked for United Plating and Massey Ferguson until they closed the plant. He then worked at Lewis System until his retirement in June 1991. He also was a member of the motor pool for the Des Moines based Air Force National Guard for several years.

Denny enjoyed stock car races and attended many in the Midwest area with his family. If it had wheels, he was interested. He also enjoyed going to vintage and classic car shows even when he could no longer "look under the hood".

After leaving Des Moines for Adel, he and his family settled in Dexter, Iowa and had been watching the town grow. At the time our home was surrounded by fields. We now have close neighbors.

He spent the last few years watching his son grow to a tall and decent young man and attending car races and pro wrestling matches via the TV. He and Matt spent many evenings debating the finer points of the pro wrestlers and laughing at the antics of "The Three Stooges". Dennis and his family joined the LDS Church in Des Moines and was able to go to the temple and be sealed for eternity to his wife and son. Family was extremely important to Denny and he was very proud of Matt and his accomplishments. Although he was in a great deal of pain, Denny never really complained much. He was a quiet man, more reserved than shy, but did enjoy the many visitors that came to see him even if he didn't do much talking.

Denny leaves the following family to celebrate his life: wife Linda Westfall of Dexter, Iowa; son Matthew Paul Westfall of Dexter, Iowa; his father James Westfall and stepmother Evelyn of Ft. Madison, Iowa; brother Gerard of Ft. Madison, Iowa; sister Jeanne Stamp of Oak Park, California; sister Carolyn Harrison of Alaska; and many, many friends.
