Dexter—A funeral for Charles “Shirley” Cooper, 59, of Dexter was held Feb. 15, 1986 at the United Methodist Church here. Mr. Cooper died of a gunshot wound Feb. 11 in Adair County, where coroner Joseph B. Baker is investigating.

Burial was in the Dexter Cemetery.

Mr. Cooper was born in Chancellor, S.D. and was a farmer.

Survivors include his wife, June; a daughter, Carole Faust of Menlo; a son, Timothy of Dexter; a stepdaughter, Kathy Cooper of Stuart; a stepson, Randy Cheatwood of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Eunice Cooper of Dexter; two sisters, Barbara Doherty and Charlene Stone, both of Dallas Center; three brothers, Richard of Grimes, Chet of Dexter and Gary of Dallas Center; and two grandchildren.
